BLUBLOC is an “stay in place” Insulated Compound Concrete Form
(ICCF) composed of 85% recycled Polystyrene and 15% Portland
cement. BLUBLOC is a hollow 6” core 12” OC grid-based exterior wall
block element used for constructing exterior walls. Stack and tack the
block in place, place rebar, then pour cement into the cavities in walls.
No massive bracing, only on windows, doors, and corners.
BLUBLOC uses include single story to seven story structures for residential and commercial use. Developed in Europe, BLUBLOC technology has been around for 40 years. The block can easily be cut, shaped, andmolded by using a h and saw, rasp, or an electric chainsaw. BLUBLOC makes an extremely high insulating, airtight shell. Our proprietary manufacturing and BLUMIX of polystyrene and Portland Cement produces a block with the highest standards in our industry, thus setting us above all other exterior wall options.
BLUBLOC panels are stacked and then tacked with foam glue in place, bracing only the corners and openings. Once a wall section is assembled, the wall is shimmed into plumb. Windows and door openings are measured for correct placements, then cut out. Panels are used in either direction, depending on how they will best fit the building plan. The empty cavities will form the structural strength part, once rebar is placed and concrete has been poured per story. All that is needed are the two types of BLUBLOC panels – the standard and the end.
Building with BLUBLOC
A BLUBLOC structure is the most superior building method, making traditional building methods outdated, inferior, and wasteful.
Every average sized residence constructed with BLUBLOC removes 2500 lbs of EPS from our landfills. We will consume most all of Portland’s waste Styrofoam, totaling up to 1200 truckloads our first year.
With the two types of BLUBLOC panels any building detail can be realized.
